Tamnak Phra Mae Guan Yin

The Tamnak Phra Mae Guan Yin in Chiang Mai is a vibrant Chinese-Buddhist temple dedicated to Guan Yin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, standing out sharply against the region's traditional Thai Lanna architecture. This hidden gem is famous for its massive, colorful sculptures of a dragon and a tiger, where visitors can uniquely walk through the dragon's open mouth and explore an interior corridor adorned with detailed mythological murals before exiting through the tiger. Established in 1991, the temple features striking red and gold architectural details, diverse representations of Guan Yin (including a thousand-armed statue), and a serene, meditative atmosphere that offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city center.
